Art Instruction
Sharing the process and joy of creating art is a very important part of being an artist. Brush and Sketch Art Studio, founded by my wife Nancy and I provides inspiration and instruction for young artists and adults. We offer group and private art instruction in a variety of mediums: watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, gouache, oil, and digital. Nancy works with our younger artists and I work with adults who are passionate about growing their skill and creating fine art.
Our studio offers workshops and critiques; coaching with paintings in progress or series of paintings; plein air painting and studio work; from basic principles to advanced.
It would be a privilege to work with you and help you take your art to the next level.
Current classes:
Drawing - Tuesdays 6-7:30 (for ages 14 through adult) is a great way to grow your drawing skills and get in regular practice time. Through projects and exercises, instructor John gives expert advice and coaching to increase artist's drawing abilities.

Open Studio- Saturday 6-7:30 Painting and drawing directly from life is one of the best ways to improve an artist's skill. The weekly Open Studio is for artists ages 16 and up. Come paint along side artists of various levels and learn from practicing together. We will be painting a head study (portrait) from the live model and/or still life arrangement.
Begins Saturday, April 5 at 6 pm.
Artists bring your own materials- oil, acrylic, watercolor, charcoal, easel, etc.
Cost is $20 per week or $15 with a student ID. Cost covers model expenses, still life objects (ex. fresh flowers) and studio overhead. Space is limited to first come basis. Drop us an email to let us know you are coming: brushandsketch@gmail.com
Summer '25 Workshops:
This summer, John Ball will be teaching four, 2-day intensive workshops in Watercolor, Acrylic, Oil, and Drawing for artists ages 16 and up.
Come use this opportunity to grow your skill and learn from John's years of experience in these mediums. Each workshop is limited to 6 artists, so that each artist can get the best individual attention. Register now before they fill up!
All workshops are on Thursday and Friday.

June 19, 20 - Watercolor
July 10,11 - Acrylic
July 24, 25 - Oil
Daily schedule:
9:30am - 11:30am John will demonstrate
11:30am - 12:30pm Lunch
12:30pm - 4pm Painting/drawing
Cost is $350 for each 2 day workshop. A materials list will be emailed when your registration is confirmed.
