Green Vase, Warm Light

This 11" × 14" acrylic on linen still life was painted in my studio from a simple setup I lived with for a while. I enjoy taking my time with these kinds of paintings—moving things around, adjusting the light, and letting the relationships between the flowers, fruit, and vessels slowly reveal themselves. It’s a quiet, familiar subject, but one that offers endless opportunities to explore color, rhythm, and mood.

For me, still lifes are about slowing down and paying attention. I’m less interested in perfect detail and more drawn to the feeling of the moment—the way light falls across the table, the warmth of the colors, and the subtle energy created by loose, responsive brushwork. The antique frame felt like a natural fit, adding character and a sense of history while grounding the painting as a finished, ready-to-hang piece.
